- Receive, sort, and inspect used surgical instruments for decontamination
- Operate and maintain decontamination equipment such as ultrasonic cleaners and washers
- Assemble surgical instrument sets and package them for sterilization
- Operate sterilizers and monitor sterilization cycles
- Perform biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring tests
- Store and distribute sterilized instruments to operating rooms and clinics
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and inventory

Job Purpose
- Responsible for the decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment by Fakeeh Care policy and procedures/standards.
- Ensures that all equipment is properly sterilized and available in patient care and surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Receives, sorts, and inspects used surgical instruments and medical equipment for decontamination.
- Manually cleans instruments using appropriate detergents and disinfectants.
- Operates and maintains decontamination equipment such as ultrasonic cleaners, washers, and disinfectors.
- Assembles surgical instrument sets and medical equipment according to established protocols.
- Packages instruments and supplies in preparation for sterilization, ensuring proper wrapping, labeling, and documentation.
- Operates sterilizers (e.g., autoclaves) according to manufacturer guidelines and Fakeeh Care policies.
- Monitors and documents sterilization cycles, including time, temperature, and pressure parameters.
- Performs routine biological, chemical, and mechanical monitoring tests to ensure effective sterilization.
- Stores sterilized instruments and supplies in designated storage areas, ensuring proper rotation and inventory control.
- Distributes sterilized instruments and equipment to operating rooms, clinics, and other departments as required.
- Maintains accurate records of sterilization processes and inventory levels.
- Adheres to all infection control and safety protocols to prevent cross contamination.
