The Senior Software Engineer, Database role supports SitePlug.com and focuses on large-scale databases and data pipelines for advertising technology platforms.
The role is an individual contributor position requiring hands-on database development, performance tuning, and big data expertise.
The position integrates scalable data solutions into production systems with attention to reliability, security, and performance.
Work Location
- The stated work location is Mumbai, Malad.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize database schemas, tables, indexes, and relationships.
- Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
- Gather, clean, and process structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
- Design and implement ETL pipelines using MySQL, Hadoop, and Spark.
- Optimize queries, indexes, and partitions to improve database performance.
- Manage replication, clustering, and failover strategies for high availability.
- Manage large-scale datasets with Hadoop ecosystem components including HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Impala, Kafka, HBase, and Pig.
- Build and maintain real-time streaming pipelines with Apache Spark and Spark Streaming.
- Collaborate with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines for database-related deployments.
- Own database lifecycle management across MySQL, big data ETL, and analytics.
Required Skills
- At least 5 years of SQL and MySQL experience.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Cloudera Hadoop Distribution and Apache Spark.
- Proficiency in database development and knowledge of database internals.
- Experience with database administration, performance tuning, replication, backup, and restoration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Hadoop Architecture, HDFS, MapReduce, Hive, Impala, Kafka, HBase, Pig, and Java.
- Experience processing large structured and unstructured datasets.
