Role Overview

Airswift is sourcing a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in subsea umbilical and power cable engineering.

The role supports a major offshore oil and gas redevelopment project with greenfield and brownfield scope.

This is a long-term contract based at the Doha headquarters with site visits.

Contract Details

  • The contract duration is 36 months with potential for extension.
  • The start date is negotiable and typically requires up to one month of notice.

Working Schedule

  • The working schedule is five days per week, with eight to nine hours per day.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer, or equivalent status is preferable.
  • At least 12 years of relevant postgraduate oil and gas experience is required, including 10 years in subsea umbilical and cable design and engineering.
  • Experience is required on at least two major offshore EPIC projects with responsibility for umbilical and power cable package delivery.
  • PMT or PMC experience and the ability to manage EPIC contractors and vendors are required.
  • Experience with umbilical design codes and standards, manufacturing, testing, technical reviews, and compliance is required.
  • Experience in umbilical and power cable crossings, loadout, installation, shore approach, J-tube pulling, and commissioning is required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide subsea umbilical and power cable engineering services from concept through commissioning while meeting quality, schedule, cost, and HSE requirements.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, scopes of work, deliverables, schedules, contractor method statements, bids, vendor documents, and contract changes.
  • Act as the technical focal point for subsea facilities and manage interfaces among contractors, operations, topsides, drilling, and other stakeholders.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and startup activities both onshore and offshore.
  • Coach, mentor, and train less experienced subsea engineers.
