Job Description
- Lead electrical design activities across all stages of Design & Build projects (Concept, Schematic, Design Development, IFC)
- Prepare and review electrical design deliverables including load calculations, demand schedules, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), layouts, and detailed schematics
- Develop MV/LV power distribution systems including substations, panels, earthing, lightning protection, and cable routing
- Design and coordinate ELV systems such as Fire Alarm, ICT, Security, CCTV, Access Control, and BMS
- Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and authority regulations (SEC, Civil Defense, and other relevant GCC authorities)
- Prepare and manage BIM models using Revit and perform coordination using Navisworks to ensure clash-free design
- Coordinate effectively with Architectural, Structural, and other MEP disciplines for integrated project delivery
- Ensure timely preparation and issuance of IFF/IFP (Issued for Fabrication/Production) and IFC (Issued for Construction) drawing packages in line with project schedules
- Prepare technical submissions, calculations, design reports, and documentation required for authority approvals
- Support the preparation of bid packages and tender documentation related to electrical design scope (as applicable)
- Review and approve third-party designs and drawings to ensure compliance, accuracy, and multidisciplinary coordination (as applicable)
- Provide technical support to site and technical office teams, including responding to RFIs and resolving design-related issues
- Identify value engineering opportunities to optimize cost, time, and manpower while maintaining design integrity
- Oversee and review the work of junior designers, BIM modelers, and draftsmen, ensuring quality and consistency
- Provide guidance and mentoring to team members and enforce BIM and drafting standards
- Manage workload distribution within the design team and ensure timely completion of deliverables
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to translate requirements into efficient and practical design solutions (as applicable)
- Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and are properly reviewed before final submission
- Monitor progress against project deliverable logs and coordinate with planning teams to meet deadlines
- Maintain proper version control and manage design revisions throughout the project lifecycle
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices and integrate them into design work
Skills And Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent; LEED GA preferred
- Minimum 8+ years of electrical design experience within contracting companies (GCC experience preferred)
- Strong experience in MV/LV power systems, electrical distribution, and ELV systems (Fire Alarm, ICT, Security, BMS)
- Proven experience in Design & Build projects from concept to IFC, including design development and shop drawings
- Good knowledge of authority regulations (SEC, Civil Defense) and contracting workflows (technical office & site coordination)
- Proficient in Revit (BIM), Dialux, and Navisworks, with ability to prepare calculations, SLDs, and technical documentation
- Strong coordination skills across Architectural, Structural, and MEP disciplines
- Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and deliver value engineering solutions
- Experience in technical submissions, bid support, and stakeholder coordination
- Strong communication, teamwork, leadership, and attention to detail
- PV Solar experience and exposure to industrial/modular projects are advantageous
