About the Role
CIBC is looking for a Sr Consultant, Business Controls to lead the management of material, systemic and emerging risks within Technology Infrastructure & Innovation.

Responsibilities
- Lead the management of material, systemic and emerging risks by developing and implementing integrated control improvement solutions across all products and distribution channels within TI&I
- Manage relationships at peer or director level, as well as project and initiative managers, within the assigned LOB
- Work closely with LOB partners to proactively identify risk exposures and control gaps
- Analyze and synthesize risk exposures, operational losses, root causes and control gaps
- Lead the assessment and recommendation of self assessed deficiencies to mitigate risk exposures and control gaps
- Lead the Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA) process ensuring all high inherent risks are identified and compliant
- Acts as the risk and controls Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing expert advice to Line of Business partners
- Lead all Internal Audits, Compliance Exams and GORM Reviews for the LOB regarding audit scope review & finalization, requests for information, fieldwork support and potential deficiency management
- Lead the execution of annual audit plan activities and ongoing management self assessment processes
- Lead Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) or other regulatory exam requirements
- Understand and communicate Control Framework requirements to LOB partners
- Lead the completion of all CIBC Control Framework requirements, including Risk and Controls Self Assessments (RCSAs), Scenarios and Key Regulatory Indicators (KRIs)
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of risk management, audit & regulatory compliance principles, practices, policies and procedures
- Experience in Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Capital Markets and Wealth Management products, Retail Operation, Data Governance and AI and channels
- Understanding of key businesses and processes, including account opening, key product delivery processes and back office settlement/fulfillment processes
- Experience providing coaching and hands on support to meet team goals
- Strong critical thinking skills to inform decision making

What You’ll Be Doing
- As a member of the TI&I Risk Governance group, you’ll lead the management of material, systemic and emerging risks by developing and implementing integrated control improvement solutions, across all products and distribution channels within Technology Infrastructure & Innovation (TI&I).
- As a Sr. Consultant of Business Controls you will lead the management of key controls to mitigate operational exposures and potential losses and will support CIBC’s Control Framework to ensure compliance to regulatory, legislative, and operational requirements.
- You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1 3 days per week on site, while other days will be remote.
How You’ll Succeed
- Relationship Management: Relationship manager and collaborative consultant with business partners and 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defense for all matters relating to operational risk.
- Risk Assessment/Risk Consulting: Work closely with LOB partners to proactively identify risk exposures and control gaps. Analyze and synthesize risk exposures, operational losses, root causes and control gaps.
- Control Framework Design/Execution/Management: Understand and communicate Control Framework requirements to LOB partners to ensure awareness and understanding and impacts.
