Role overview
Amex GBT is seeking a Junior SQL Database Administrator for an evolving database environment.
The role works closely with Development, Infrastructure, and Data teams.
What you'll do
- Manage and operate database systems daily while ensuring high availability.
- Tune and optimize databases to meet performance levels and SLAs.
- Plan and perform preventative maintenance across the MSSQL landscape.
- Remediate vulnerabilities identified by the Vulnerability Mitigation Team.
- Provide out-of-hours support through an on-call rota.
- Maintain technical documentation and change procedures.
- Respond to helpdesk tickets.
- Enforce data governance policies to protect data confidentiality and integrity.
What we're looking for
- Experience in an internal or external support role.
- Experience contributing to a distributed team.
- Exposure to MSSQL.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Experience with physical and virtual environments.
- SC Clearance is required.
- PowerShell experience is a plus.
