Overview

  • Since its inception in 2010, National Reference Laboratory (NRL) has expanded from a single standalone reference laboratory to a network of 12 state of the art facilities across the United Arab Emirates.
  • The Specimen Processor plays a vital role within the Laboratory Operations team, ensuring the accurate receipt, registration, handling, and distribution of patient specimens.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, open, and process specimens submitted for laboratory testing.
  • Verify specimen quality and accept or reject samples according to established policies and procedures.
  • Triage, prioritize, sort, and distribute specimens to the appropriate laboratory sections.
  • Accurately enter patient demographics, specimen details, and test orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Scan and maintain requisitions and supporting documentation as required.
  • Follow laboratory SOPs and health and safety guidelines to ensure specimen integrity and compliance.
  • Assist in maintaining efficient workflows and supporting daily laboratory operations.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and participate in incident and complaint investigations when required.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Life Sciences, Healthcare, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory, specimen reception, healthcare, or data entry environment is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and specimen handling.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety standards, specimen collection requirements, and quality procedures.
  • Proficiency in using Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
