Role overview
JD.com is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to develop software services for the JoyBuy retail business and related European operations.
The role works with teams across product management, platform, retail applications, and business domains in an international environment.
Key responsibilities
- Build and extend retail services and platform capabilities for performance, availability, concurrency, security, and scalability.
- Identify and mitigate technical risks using monitoring, maintainability, grey-release, and rollback strategies.
- Extend technical capabilities to improve operational excellence for business partners.
- Research and promote technologies and methodologies that improve experience, efficiency, and operating cost.
- Identify integration opportunities between emerging technologies and global system architectures.
- Strengthen software development principles, processes, and planning across teams and business partners.
- Work with stakeholders to define service development plans.
- Communicate technical vision, strategy, software design logic, and technical decisions across domains.
- Support and mentor junior members in technical development and progression.
- Work onsite in London, Berlin, or Düsseldorf.
Minimum qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on software development experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable applications.
- Advanced knowledge of Java or Kotlin and GraphQL or RESTful API design.
- Familiarity with microservices, cloud architecture, and platforms such as AWS.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins, Spinnaker, or GitHub Actions.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in large-scale ecommerce companies.
- Experience with supplier and merchant tools.
- Experience in UK and European business.
- Effective communication skills in Chinese is a plus.
Workplace
- The role requires onsite work in London, Berlin, or Düsseldorf.
