About the Team and Role
WEX Mobility Engineering delivers fleet management and mobility payments solutions to large customers and partners across North America.
Mobility systems provide SaaS and API solutions supporting fleet credit issuance, fuel discounts, spend controls, merchant restrictions, and transaction controls.
The Staff Software Engineer provides deep technical leadership across multiple teams and services while remaining hands-on in foundational technical areas.
Technical Leadership and Architecture
- Define and evolve architecture across multiple Mobility services and resolve cross-team bottlenecks.
- Lead architecture reviews and technical workshops with engineering, product, security, compliance, operations, and partner teams.
- Establish reusable patterns, reference architectures, libraries, and frameworks for APIs, service communication, events, data access, observability, and cloud infrastructure.
- Set standards for REST APIs, gRPC APIs, ODATA, SQL, service contracts, versioning, compatibility, and integration patterns.
- Design secure, scalable, highly available, and resilient internet-scale systems.
