About the Team and Role
WEX is seeking a seasoned software engineer for the Mobility Engineering organization.
The role supports North America Mobility products that provide fleet management, mobility payments, SaaS, and API solutions.
The position works with a distributed development team across the United States, Brazil, and India.
Engineering Responsibilities
- Build scalable backend services and public REST APIs using Java, plus internal gRPC APIs.
- Create system designs, lead design decisions, and collaborate with other senior engineers.
- Develop comprehensive automated tests, including unit, integration, end-to-end, concurrency, load, and performance tests.
- Improve scalability, stability, monitoring, healing, continuous integration, and deployment.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver new features.
- Review code, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
Reliability and Technical Leadership
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, author root-cause analyses, and ensure lasting performance and reliability.
- Evaluate competing technologies and advise the team on solution trade-offs.
