Job purpose

Provide broad corrosion engineering expertise to monitor and control facilities while supporting production, integrity, safety, environmental compliance, and cost effectiveness.

Review design specification requirements for new projects and modifications.

Address complex corrosion discipline problems using established engineering standards and methodologies.

Reporting and relationships

  • Report to the Lead of Corrosion or Corrosion Engineering Specialist.
  • Work with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, Subsurface, and Supply departments.
  • Coordinate with shareholders, consultants, laboratories, research institutes, service providers, and vendors.

Key accountabilities

  • Review materials, designs, and monitoring criteria for cathodic protection, coatings and linings, chemical inhibition, and corrosion monitoring programs.
  • Conduct corrosion monitoring, prevention, investigations, and Integrity Operating Window reviews.
  • Develop scopes of work and review technical reports for corrosion-related contracts and investigations.
  • Develop coating requirements, inspect paint condition, and support painting quality control.
  • Develop and maintain corrosion procedures, standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Steward corrosion programs across offshore platforms, pipelines, process facilities, refineries, storage, export, and loading facilities.
  • Analyze reports, test results, and failure investigations and recommend corrective actions or life-extension measures.
  • Provide expertise on chemical treatment, cathodic protection, material selection, coatings, linings, and corrosive conditions.
  • Raise PMCRs for corrosion studies and changes to cathodic protection, coatings, and linings.

Minimum qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Metallurgical, Materials, or another relevant Engineering discipline.
  • At least 6 years of corrosion control and mitigation experience in the oil and gas production industry.
  • Competence in chemical inhibition, corrosion monitoring, material selection, degradation mechanisms, failure analysis, coatings, and cathodic protection.
  • Experience with sour feed gas, marine-climate facilities, utilities, and corrosion systems.
  • Working knowledge of national, local, and international codes, standards, regulations, NDT, and inspection techniques.
  • Proficient written and spoken English, computer literacy, communication skills, and evaluative judgment.

General accountabilities
