Senior Telecom Engineer

Job Purpose

Key Accountabilities

• Operate and control installed or virtual telecommunications system hardware and software across multiple platforms and local and wide area networks.
• Provide technical expertise on operational procedures and instruct less experienced colleagues.
• Configure tools to automate provisioning, testing, and deployment of telecommunications infrastructure.
• Plan and implement telecommunications system installation and maintenance work, including virtualized infrastructure components.
• Implement infrastructure changes and maintenance routines while following safety and security procedures.
• Produce outline telecommunications system designs and specifications covering architecture, reliability, resilience, security, constraints, and implementation strategies.
• Manage the lifecycle of relatively simple communications systems, including investigation, analysis, design, construction, testing, maintenance, upgrade, and migration.
• Define and execute small-scale projects or sub-projects and manage related risks and issues.
• Prioritize and diagnose incidents, investigate causes, and seek resolution.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, telecommunication technology, information technology, electrical and electronics engineering, or information systems.
• At least 8 years of IT experience.
• Competent knowledge of core skill applications, tools, and techniques.
• Knowledge of relevant national and international IT and telecommunications standards.
• Demonstrated project management and IT support experience.

Technical and Business Skills

• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Specialized technical expertise and broader IT and telecommunications knowledge.
• Compliance with risk, security, and continuity management principles.
