Job overview

D4 Insight is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Engineer to support technology projects across enterprise environments.

The role combines Oracle database administration and performance tuning with automation of repetitive DBA activities.

The successful candidate will work across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Oracle database administration

  • Administer and support Oracle databases, including Oracle RAC and Oracle Data Guard.
  • Manage database operations across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and AWS.
  • Administer and monitor databases using Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Perform database backup and recovery activities using RMAN.

Performance and engineering

  • Perform database patching and migrations.
  • Conduct SQL and database-level performance tuning.
  • Identify and resolve database performance issues.
  • Maintain database reliability and operational stability across technology projects.

Automation and DevOps

  • Automate repetitive Oracle DBA activities using modern automation technologies.
  • Develop and maintain automation using Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, and Groovy.
  • Contribute to improving operational efficiency through automation.

Project and operational support

  • Work across multiple technology projects simultaneously.
  • Operate effectively under pressure and support critical activities when required.
  • Provide occasional out-of-hours and weekend support based on operational requirements.

Required skills and experience

  • At least eight years of Oracle database engineering experience within large organizations.
  • Excellent knowledge of Oracle Database Administration, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and RMAN.
  • Strong knowledge of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and AWS.
  • Strong expertise in database patching, database migration, SQL tuning, and database performance tuning.
  • Good knowledge of SQL and/or PL/SQL.
  • Good understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Scripting experience using Bash and Python.
  • Good knowledge of Agile working practices.

Desirable qualifications

  • Experience with Ansible, Git, Jenkins, Groovy, or Terraform is desirable.
  • Banking and managing analytical database experience is desirable.
  • Relevant professional certifications are desirable.

Operational schedule

  • Occasional out-of-hours and weekend support may be required based on operational requirements.
