Senior Software Release QA Specialist

Role Overview

Technical Job Duties

• Execute regression testing using manual and automated testing techniques.
• Create, maintain, and execute test specifications and test cases.
• Write and maintain automation scripts.
• Identify, document, and track software defects found during testing.
• Work closely with developers to ensure defects are correctly identified and fixed.

Writing Job Duties

• Work with developers, QA, product managers, and others to understand new features, use cases, and customer scenarios.
• Document and publish release notes, user guides, reference materials, and use case scenarios for new product releases.

Experience Required

• Three to five years of software testing or software development experience.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
• Strong knowledge of IPSec, SSL VPN, data encryption, and authentication.
• Knowledge of general QA procedures, methodologies, and software development fundamentals.
• Programming or scripting experience, such as Python or Perl.
• Experience configuring, installing, and troubleshooting PC or server software and hardware in Windows and Unix environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot software logically and analytically.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with other departments.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks under tight time constraints.
• Ability to write clear and reproducible problem reports and test results.

Additional Qualifications

• Knowledge of databases is an asset.
• Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, cloud products, or AI is an asset.
• A degree or technical diploma in Computer Science, Computer Technology, or a related field is required.

Compensation

• The Canada base salary range for this full-time position is $103,000 to $126,000 annually.
