Role Overview

EPAM is building a team around a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Java, cloud, and AWS.

The role focuses on secure, scalable Java web services in a cloud-first environment.

The engineer will work across disciplines, deliver RESTful APIs, and improve reliability and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support scalable, high-performance Java web services.
  • Coordinate with frontend developers to integrate web services into web applications.
  • Build RESTful APIs for client-side and server-side communication.
  • Maintain web service robustness, reliability, and security using best practices.
  • Improve performance and scalability through caching, load balancing, and database optimization.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and QA engineers.
  • Conduct code reviews and uphold coding standards.
  • Stay informed about Java and web services technologies and trends.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years of IT experience, including at least 6 years of strong Java proficiency.
  • Good understanding of web services engineering and RESTful APIs.
  • Hands-on Spring Boot experience for building and deploying web services.
  • Strong expertise in Spring Security, JWT, and web security practices.
  • Experience with SQL queries, stored procedures, Hibernate, and ORM frameworks.
  • Ability to use Linux commands for development and operational tasks.
  • Proficiency with Git and ADO.
  • Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to work with Swing, AWT, JavaFX, and Java desktop applications.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • English proficiency at B2 or higher.

Nice to Have

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Angular knowledge is preferred.
  • Microservices architecture experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is preferred.
  • Docker and Kubernetes experience is preferred.
  • Agile development experience and Java-related certification are preferred.
