Mission

  • The Senior Railway System Engineer is responsible for integrating, verifying and optimizing railway systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • The role covers rolling stock, signaling, infrastructure, power supply, and communication systems.
  • The candidate will act as Testing & Commissioning Manager, collaborating with System Engineering and System Assurance experts.

Key Accountabilities

  • Verification & Validation: Ensuring railway systems adhere to performance and characteristics required by project requirements, standards, laws.
  • Managing all V&V activities, defining relevant plans and monitoring execution.
  • Monitoring execution of FAI, FAT, SAT and other V&V activities relevant to subsystems.
  • Managing and executing on site integration T&C activities (SIT, SPT, trial run).
  • System Design & Architecture: Defining and managing railway system requirements, system architecture, interaction between subsystems.
  • Selecting appropriate technologies and configurations for new rail projects.
  • Managing interface development and coordinating verification/validation of all interfaces.
  • System Integration: Ensuring interoperability between different railway subsystems.
  • Validating system compatibility across national and international requirements and standards.
  • Performance Optimization: Enhancing railway system efficiency in terms of capacity, energy consumption, and operational reliability.
  • Lifecycle Management: Managing railway system upgrades and modernization projects.
  • Digitalization & Smart Rail Technologies: Implementing IoT, AI, and Big Data solutions for predictive maintenance and automation.

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in integration/system engineering for railway systems.
  • Experience in focusing on sustainability in railway systems and infrastructure design, construction, and operation.
  • Rolling Stock (Metro, EMUs, DMUs, LRVs)
  • Signaling Systems (ETCS, CBTC, PTC, Interlocking)
  • Electrification (25kV AC, 750V DC, 3kV DC systems)
  • Track Infrastructure (Standard gauge, High Speed Rail, Light Rail, Metro)
  • Interface management between hardware, software, and infrastructure.
  • Managing mixed traffic operations (High speed, freight, commuter trains).
  • CENELEC Standards: EN 50126 (RAMS), EN 50128 (Software), EN 50129 (Safety)
  • ETCS/ERTMS (European Train Control System)
  • IEC 62290 (Urban Rail Control Systems)
  • Systems Engineering: DOORS, Enterprise Architect
