Senior Project Manager –Network Migration (SDH/DWDM/Transport)

Position Objective

Project Delivery

• Manage implementation of Network Migration projects covering SDH, NG-SDH, DWDM, OTN, and associated Transport networks.
• Lead Transport modernization, traffic and service migration, switch-off, decommissioning, and dismantling activities.
• Manage migration from legacy SDH networks to DWDM/OTN, IP/MPLS, and packet-based Transport solutions.
• Maintain project plans covering scope, milestones, resources, dependencies, and priorities.
• Monitor progress, KPIs, milestones, bottlenecks, and corrective or recovery actions.

Migration Coordination

• Track migration prerequisites including network readiness, fiber/OSP, ISP, space, power, and connectivity requirements.
• Coordinate traffic analysis, migration planning, MDT or cutover, traffic rerouting, service validation, and operational acceptance.
• Ensure traffic and services are validated before legacy network elements are approved for switch-off and dismantling.

Governance and Reporting

• Manage risks, critical activities, blocking issues, mitigation, resolution, and escalation.
• Coordinate communication, reporting, and escalation among project teams, clients, vendors, contractors, and program leadership.
• Conduct project progress and coordination meetings and follow up on actions and decisions.
• Report progress, milestones, KPIs, risks, issues, financial status, and contractual commitments.

Vendors and Assets

• Monitor vendor and contractor performance and delivery of surveys, installations, migrations, integrations, dismantling, and related activities.
• Manage asset lifecycle activities during decommissioning, including reconciliation of dismantled assets and updates to asset registers and inventory records.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or an equivalent field.
• At least 10 years of telecommunications industry experience, including Transport network implementation, migration, and modernization.
• At least 5 years of project or program management experience.
• Large-scale telecom network migration or modernization program experience is preferred.
• Valid PMP or PRINCE2 project management certification and knowledge of project management methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of SDH, NG-SDH, DWDM, OTN, IP/MPLS, and Transport network architectures.
• Understanding of end-to-end network migration and telecom asset lifecycle management.
• Experience managing multi-domain dependencies, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams in a large telecom operator environment.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, and cross-functional communication skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills; Arabic is an added advantage.
