About the Role
Black & White Engineering is hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer for data centre projects in Abu Dhabi. The role involves leading mechanical design of hyperscale and mission-critical data centres, including cooling systems and high-density infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design of hyperscale and mission critical data centres from concept through detailed design and IFC documentation
- Design chilled water systems, cooling plants, heat rejection systems, ventilation systems, and high density cooling infrastructure
- Produce and review Basis of Design, Design Basis Reports, technical specifications, equipment schedules, calculations, and engineering reports
- Perform HVAC load calculations, hydraulic calculations, ventilation calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection
- Support integration of advanced cooling technologies including Direct to Chip Liquid Cooling, Rear Door Heat Exchangers, In Row Cooling, Fan Wall Units, and CDU systems
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure fully integrated project delivery
- Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, value engineering, and client presentations
- Review vendor submissions and support equipment selection throughout the project lifecycle
- Support commissioning activities, respond to technical queries, and provide construction phase engineering support
- Ensure designs comply with international codes, client standards, and internal quality management procedures
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Around 8–12 years of experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy environment
- Strong experience delivering hyperscale or mission critical data centre projects
- Proven experience designing chilled water systems, HVAC systems, cooling plants, and mechanical infrastructure
- Understanding of high density cooling technologies including liquid cooling and AI ready infrastructure
- Knowledge of ASHRAE, TIA 942, NFPA, SMACNA, and other relevant international standards
- Experience producing detailed engineering calculations, technical reports, and IFC documentation
- Proficiency with engineering software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, IES, Pipe Flo, or equivalent
- Strong communication skills with experience working directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams

What you'll be doing

What we're looking for
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

- Proven experience designing chilled water systems, HVAC systems, cooling plants, and mechanical infrastructure.
- Understanding of high density cooling technologies including liquid cooling and AI ready infrastructure.

- Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical excellence is desirable.
