Role Overview

The Senior Manager – IT PMO & Demand Management will be responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously improving the enterprise IT demand management and PMO capability.

The role acts as a strategic bridge between business and IT, ensuring that demand is well-articulated, prioritized, governed, and transitioned into effective delivery—maximizing business value, including the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) use cases.

This position requires strong hands-on experience in IT PMO or Demand Management, deep understanding of IT operating models, and the ability to translate business priorities into executable IT initiatives.

1. Demand Preparation & Business Case Support

  • Partner with business and IT stakeholders to guide demand owners in shaping high-quality demand submissions and business cases.
  • Provide expert advice on value articulation, cost estimates, benefits realization, and risk assessment.
  • Support identification and qualification of AI-driven initiatives, including business value, feasibility, and alignment with enterprise strategy.

2. Demand Intake & Classification

  • Own and operate the demand intake process, ensuring submissions meet defined standards, templates, and governance requirements.
  • Validate demand completeness, quality, and alignment with enterprise priorities.
  • Classify demand using agreed taxonomy (e.g., run/grow/transform, regulatory, innovation, AI, etc.) and prioritization criteria.

3. Demand Backlog & Pipeline Management

  • Maintain and actively manage the enterprise demand pipeline and backlog.
  • Monitor demand ageing, dependencies, capacity constraints, and prioritization status.
  • Proactively drive resolution of stalled, non-compliant, or low-quality demand items.

4. Governance & Decision Forums

  • Design, plan, and facilitate demand governance and prioritization forums.
  • Prepare high-quality decision materials, dashboards, and executive summaries.
  • Track decisions, actions, and approvals through to closure and execution.

5. Demand Transition to Delivery

  • Ensure all approved demand is fully documented, funded, and authorized through governance.
  • Manage smooth transition of demand into project, product, or operational delivery models.
  • Work closely with PMO, delivery, and operations teams to ensure clarity of scope, ownership, and success criteria.

6. Process Performance & Reporting

  • Define and manage Demand Management KPIs and SLAs (e.g., cycle time, backlog health, governance effectiveness).
  • Produce weekly reports, management insights, and executive dashboards.
  • Use data-driven insights to recommend improvements and support strategic decision-making.

7. Data Quality & Compliance

  • Define and enforce data quality standards for demand records and governance artefacts.
  • Monitor compliance with demand processes, supporting remediation where needed.
  • Report on data completeness, accuracy, and adherence to enterprise standards.

8. Process Adoption & Change Management

  • Lead change management for Demand Management processes, tools, and governance models.
  • Drive adoption through structured rollout plans, communications, and role-based training.
  • Ensure consistent and disciplined usage of demand intake, prioritization, and governance mechanisms across the organization.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in IT PMO, Demand Management, Portfolio Management, or similar roles.
  • Proven hands-on experience as an IT PMO Lead or Demand Manager in a complex organization.
  • Strong knowledge of IT operating models, governance structures, and delivery frameworks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of AI use cases, emerging technologies, and their business value.
  • Experience working with senior business leaders and executive governance forums.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic thinking and strong business acumen
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong analytical, data interpretation, and reporting capabilities
  • Governance design and facilitation expertise
  • Process design, optimization, and change management
  • Ability to articulate technology and AI concepts in business terms
