Senior Environmental Engineer

Role Overview

Mandatory Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognized university.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant environmental engineering experience within the oil and gas industry.
• Experience coordinating environmental interfaces with third parties and authorities.
• Strong knowledge of international environmental regulations, standards, and best practices.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• A higher degree in Environmental Engineering or Project Management is advantageous.
• Membership of a recognized professional engineering or HSE association or institution is preferred.
• Experience with offshore greenfield and brownfield projects is preferred.

Technical Experience

• Experience developing environmental and HSE specifications and participating in HAZID, EIA, ENVID, HIRA, and QRA studies.
• Experience developing and reviewing CEMP, WMP, and Oil Spill Response Plans.
• Familiarity with environmental impact assessment from drilling through decommissioning.
• Experience assessing environmental risks in offshore decommissioning and demolition.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead environmental engineering activities for offshore greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Provide technical input across design, fabrication, construction, installation, and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, standards, and company requirements.
• Support project delivery within schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
• Provide environmental leadership aligned with Qatar environmental laws and QatarEnergy requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Define environmental requirements across FEED, EPIC, and all other project phases.
• Prepare scopes of work and participate in contractor evaluations.
• Contribute to the Project HSE Plan and Project Execution Plan.
• Participate in ENVID workshops and maintain the Environmental Risk Register.
• Review and approve EIA, modelling, survey, and other environmental reports.
• Monitor contractor compliance through audits and inspections.
• Ensure adherence to ISO 14001:2015 environmental management standards.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies for environmental permits and approvals.
• Support development of the local workforce and training of Qatari nationals.
