Senior Engineer Occupational Health

Job Purpose

HSE Monitoring

• Monitor inspections to verify that products, services, equipment, and other inspected items meet HSE standards and are safe for use.
• Review reports and inputs from technical, project, quality, and other functions to support HSE matters.
• Monitor staff HSE compliance and participate in complex and high-impact inspections.
• Serve as the first point of contact for safety, health, and environmental aspects of HSE systems and ADNOC Codes of Practice.
• Review purchasing standards to ensure equipment and materials meet safety codes and current technology requirements.

Operations Safety

• Identify hazardous and high-risk activities and recommend measures to mitigate risks and dispose of hazardous, toxic, and other waste safely.
• Monitor safety, environmental, and health tools and equipment, including personal protective equipment and instrument spares.
• Recommend preventive maintenance programs and procedures for safety equipment and installations.
• Contribute to plant safety programs and identify unsafe working conditions requiring improvement.
• Prepare and update safety inspection checklists and schedules for plant facilities.

HSE Initiatives and Training

• Lead or participate in HSE impact assessments, HAZOP, HAZID, root cause analysis, risk assessments, and related studies.
• Audit and assess projects, initiatives, and updates to support continuous development.
• Lead housekeeping and environmental activities supporting the plant working environment.
• Assess HSE training needs and conduct or facilitate training programs and communications.
• Lead or monitor evacuation and emergency drilling exercises.
• Prepare analysis and reports for routine and non-routine HSE activities.

Incident Management

• Analyze accidents, recommend actions to minimize recurrence, and follow up recommendations through close-out.
• Investigate or participate in accident investigations as directed by HSE management.
• Lead crisis communications within the HSE chain of command to support timely team response.

Management and Improvement

• Plan, supervise, and coordinate activities in the assigned area and train assigned staff on relevant skills.
• Provide input to functional budgets, investigate significant variances, and support cost control.
• Implement approved policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures.
• Design and implement tools and techniques to improve operational process quality and efficiency.
• Provide inputs for section management information and progress reports.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• At least 8 years of experience, including at least 3 years as a Safety or HSE Engineer.
• Experience in HSE project implementation, HSE inspection, training and awareness sessions, and HSE systems.
• Hands-on experience with TRA, HAZID, HAZOP, PSSR, HSEIA, and other risk assessment studies.

Professional Certifications

• Professional certifications listed include ISO 9001, NEBOSH or NIOSH NPG, ISO 14001 or RC, and ISO 27000.

Work Environment

• The work environment is air-conditioned, with possible exposure to heat, humidity, and dust during occasional site visits.
• Physical effort is described as minimal.
