About the Role
AECOM is hiring a Senior Engineer - Mechanical for construction supervision and quality control on infrastructure projects in Dubai. The role involves supervising electromechanical works, reviewing shop drawings, coordinating with authorities, and overseeing testing and commissioning.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and inspect electromechanical works on site, including electrical, mechanical, control, and instrumentation systems
- Review and comment on shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, ITPs, and as built drawings for all electromechanical components
- Witness factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for key equipment such as pumps, switchgear, control panels, SCADA systems, traffic signals, and ITS devices
- Ensure all works comply with relevant standards (DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, NFPA, IEC, and other applicable codes)
- Identify and report non conformances, follow up on corrective actions, and ensure resolution prior to system handover
- Liaise with DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, Etisalat, DU, and other authorities for inspections, approvals, and NOCs
- Coordinate with the Contractor’s electromechanical team and other discipline engineers to resolve technical and interface issues
- Ensure seamless integration of electrical and mechanical systems with civil works and other project disciplines
- Oversee pre commissioning and commissioning activities, ensuring they meet approved procedures and performance requirements
- Review and verify O&M manuals, training materials, and spare parts lists submitted by the Contractor
- Assist in punch list preparation, system performance verification, and final handover of electromechanical systems
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, commissioning activities, and equipment deliveries
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in electromechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or senior engineering role on infrastructure projects
- Proven experience on STP (Sewage Treatment Plant), sewerage line, and stormwater projects
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, control, and instrumentation systems integration
- Familiarity with relevant standards and codes including DEWA, Dubai Civil Defence, NFPA, and IEC standards
- Experience with factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for industrial equipment
- Proficiency in reviewing shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and as built documentation
- Demonstrated experience in commissioning and pre commissioning activities for complex systems

Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, commissioning activities, and equipment deliveries.
- Prepare daily and weekly reports on electromechanical works progress, key issues, and milestones achieved.
- Support claims review and variation order assessments related to electromechanical works.
Technical & Problem Solving
- Provide technical support to site inspectors and junior engineers.
- Proactively identify and resolve technical problems to avoid delays and cost overruns.
- Support value engineering initiatives for electromechanical systems to optimize cost and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in electromechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or senior engineering role on infrastructure projects

Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent licensure in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with SCADA systems, traffic signal systems, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
- Experience working with government authorities and obtaining NOCs (No Objection Certificates)
- Proficiency in project management software, MS Office applications, and technical documentation standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders
