About the Role
AECOM is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their Buildings & Places Construction Supervision team in Abu Dhabi. The role involves overseeing mechanical systems installation, testing, and commissioning, ensuring compliance with design specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other building services.
- Independently perform walk downs and inspections of installed commodities to ensure conformance with specifications and design.
- Ensure all mechanical works comply with project specifications, codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and address technical issues.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Review and approve mechanical design drawings, shop drawings, and material submittals.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to meet engineering and construction specifications.
- May provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, civil engineers, and electrical engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
- Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure timely execution of mechanical works.
- Prepare and maintain detailed site reports, inspection records, and progress updates.
- Perform quantity surveys for tracking and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in construction supervision for Buildings & Places projects.
- Proficiency in mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, BIM tools).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, building codes, and construction methodologies.
- Knowledge of international standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and LEED is a plus.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, contractors, and team members.
