Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on material selection, specification, and performance for onshore and offshore facilities
- Review and approve material standards, conduct technical evaluations, and ensure compliance with ADNOC and international codes
- Diagnose material related failures, oversee corrosion and degradation assessments, and recommend corrective and preventive actions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams, suppliers, and contractors, participate in design reviews and risk assessments
- Support procurement by evaluating material bids and vendor qualifications
- Prepare technical reports, maintain up to date materials databases and specifications
- Mentor junior engineers in materials engineering best practices
Requirements
- Strong materials engineering expertise, including metals, polymers, composites, and coatings relevant to oil and gas applications
- Proficiency in corrosion control, material degradation mechanisms, and integrity management in hydrocarbon processing environments
- Experience with industry codes and standards (e.g., ASTM, ASME, API, ISO) and their application in design, fabrication, and inspection
- Capability in failure analysis, root cause investigation, and implementation of corrective actions for material related issues
- Skill in reviewing engineering designs, specifications, and technical documents for material selection and compatibility
- Effective collaboration and communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, vendors, and contractors
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; advanced degree is an advantage
- Significant experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry in a materials or corrosion engineering capacity
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, with attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
- Fluency in English; proficiency in Arabic is beneficial
