About the Role

The Senior Avionics Hardware Engineer will own spacecraft avionics design, development, and delivery from concept through flight.

The role will help define future interplanetary avionics architecture and technical standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop avionics architecture, design, integration, verification, and flight-qualified hardware.
  • Collaborate with propulsion, guidance and control, thermal, and software teams.
  • Implement reliability and safety-focused design and test processes.
  • Lead PCB, harnessing, embedded systems, and environmental qualification work.
  • Coordinate component selection, testing, and delivery with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain design documentation, test plans, and reports.

About You

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant avionics or electronics experience in aerospace or similarly complex environments.
  • Ability to take designs from concept through production with minimal supervision.
  • Hands-on experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, embedded software interfaces, and system testing.
  • Cross-functional communication skills and effectiveness in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Mars mission experience is a plus.
  • NASA aerospace systems engineering experience is a plus.
  • Deep-space, high-radiation avionics, or spaceflight environmental testing experience is a plus.

Compensation

  • Hiring range is $148,000–$222,000 USD.
  • Compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors.
  • The package includes salary, equity, paid leave, parental leave, and learning and development support.
