Role Overview
Support day-to-day PKI and HSM operations, certificate management, troubleshooting, and implementation in an enterprise environment.
The role requires hands-on experience with PKI, Microsoft AD CS, HSM platforms, and certificate lifecycle management.
Responsibilities
- Configure and support HSM infrastructure and perform health checks.
- Support key generation, secure storage, backup, restoration, high availability, and disaster recovery.
- Integrate HSM with Microsoft AD CS and manage partitions, users, roles, and access.
- Maintain AD CS environments and manage certificate issuance, renewal, revocation, expiration, and deployment.
- Troubleshoot Certificate Templates, Auto Enrollment, certificate chains, trust, enrollment, bindings, CRL, CDP, AIA, and OCSP.
- Perform PKI health checks using certutil, PKIView, and Event Viewer.
- Support certificate-based applications such as SSL/TLS, VPN, S/MIME, and authentication.
- Maintain certificate inventory and support certificate lifecycle management platforms such as Venafi TPP.
- Assist with certificate-related automation using PowerShell.
- Handle production incidents and collaborate with infrastructure, application, security, and operations teams.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in PKI, HSM, or certificate management.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft AD CS and Entrust, Thales Luna, or equivalent HSM platforms.
- Experience troubleshooting PKI and certificate-related issues.
- Experience with certificate lifecycle management tools such as Venafi.
- Understanding of enterprise PKI, cryptography fundamentals, and ITIL incident, problem, and change management.
- Experience in production operations and customer-facing environments.
- Relevant PKI, HSM, Microsoft, or vendor training or certification is advantageous.
Technical Skills
- Microsoft AD CS and PKI; HSM platforms and HSM-AD CS integration.
- Root CA, Intermediate CA, Issuing CA, Certificate Templates, and Auto Enrollment.
- CRL, CDP, AIA, basic OCSP, certificate lifecycle management, and certificate chain troubleshooting.
- Venafi TPP or similar certificate management platforms.
- PKCS#11, CSP, KSP, cryptography fundamentals, certutil, OpenSSL, and PowerShell.
