Responsibilities
- Inspect and select appropriate lifting gear such as slings, shackles, hooks, chains, and wire ropes
- Attach loads securely for crane and hoisting operations
- Calculate load weights and determine safe lifting methods
- Direct crane operators using hand signals, radios, or other communication methods
- Ensure compliance with lifting plans and safety procedures
- Inspect rigging equipment for damage and report defects
- Assist in loading, unloading, and positioning heavy equipment and materials
- Maintain records of lifting equipment inspections where required
- Follow marine, offshore, and shipyard safety regulations
Requirements
