Role Overview
Manage the financial and contractual aspects of construction projects.
Work with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and suppliers to support project financial success.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, project budgets, forecasts, and cost-benefit analyses.
- Advise on procurement, tendering, and contractor selection strategies.
- Draft, review, and administer contracts and resolve disputes or scope changes.
- Monitor expenditures, update cost reports, conduct audits, and perform value engineering.
- Prepare tender documents, assess bids, and negotiate commercial terms.
- Identify project financial risks and report time and cost risks.
- Measure materials and labor, certify completed work, and verify final accounts.
- Maintain records of costs, transactions, change orders, and project documentation.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, building codes, safety standards, and sustainability guidelines.
Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as MRICS can be highly beneficial.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, CostX, or other cost management tools.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment
- Quantity Surveyors may work on construction sites during construction phases or in offices during planning and administration phases.
