Vacancy Overview

Airswift is seeking a QA/QC Engineer specializing in Mechanical disciplines to work in Qatar with a major oil and gas company.

The role covers quality assurance and control for major construction, fabrication, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • IRCA Certified QMS Lead Auditor certification is required.
  • Welding Inspector certification such as CSWIP 3.1 or AWS-CWI is required.
  • Painting Inspector certification such as BGAS Grade 2 or NACE Level 2 is required.
  • NDT Level 2 certification in RT, MT, UT, and PT through ASNT, ACCP, or an accepted international equivalent is required.
  • IIW Welding Engineer, NDT Level 3, advanced NDT certification, and professional memberships are advantageous or desirable.

Experience and Technical Knowledge

  • At least 15 years of experience in major greenfield or brownfield process plant construction in the oil and gas industry, including large-scale solar projects.
  • Experience with major EPIC contractors or end users in a similar role and responsibility for mechanical discipline quality activities.
  • Knowledge of international codes and standards including ASME, TEMA, ASTM, API, ISO, AWS, BS EN, NACE, IOGP, Shell DEP, and MESC specifications.
  • Working knowledge of QA/QC, testing requirements, and acceptance criteria for piping, pipelines, static equipment, and rotating equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.

Quality Documentation and Audits

  • Support contractors in preparing QA/QC documents, including ITPs, QCPs, welding, NDT, heat treatment, painting, and other test procedures.
  • Assist with review and approval of QMS, engineering, procurement, and quality documents.
  • Conduct quality, process, activity-level, vendor, supplier, subcontractor, and pre-qualification audits.
  • Implement applicable company Quality Management System requirements.

Inspection and Testing

  • Conduct surveillance of structural, piping, pipeline, fabrication, equipment erection, testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, surface preparation, and painting activities.
  • Identify non-conformances and direct contractors to complete correction, corrective, and preventive actions.
  • Monitor material test certificates, construction records, traceability, preservation, inspection status, and calibration records.
  • Ensure project QA/QC requirements are implemented at project sites and supplier or subcontractor facilities.

Management and Reporting

  • Manage and coordinate discipline inspectors and inspection and testing activities.
  • Establish and monitor discipline KPIs and personnel performance.
  • Monitor contractor, subcontractor, third-party inspector, engineer, and subordinate performance.
  • Participate in pre-activity reviews, quality walkthroughs, and weekly QA/QC meetings.

Site and Safety

  • The role involves exposure to construction sites and prevailing climatic conditions for at least 50% of the time.
  • Ensure personal safety and the safety of others affected by company business activities.
