- Provide strategic guidance to clients and lead on transactions through strong market awareness
- Draft, review, amend and negotiate project contracts
- Manage client expectations, deadlines and project delivery appropriately

- Manage matters or workstreams and maximise financial contribution
- Lead and supervise junior team members
- Recognise and act upon opportunities for business development
- Engage proactively with clients both on and off deal to build and maintain strong relationships
- Develop and share legal and sector knowledge internally and externally
- Assist with billing activities and timely invoicing
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in the 4 8 PQE range, currently within a leading international law firm
- Strong experience of EPC/construction contracts, revenue contracts, concessions, and other commercial contracts within energy, infrastructure, and project finance context
- Resilient self starter with intellectual curiosity and versatility
- Highly motivated team player with excellent organisational skills
- Clear and concise verbal and written communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills
- Strong commercial/business acumen
- Clear understanding of law firm economics

Department Purpose
- A&O Shearman is the world's leading Energy, Natural Resources and Infrastructure practice.
- We advise sponsors, project and construction companies, debt providers and governments across sectors including energy transition, renewables, power generation, social infrastructure, road, rail, ports, telecommunications, waste & water, mining, and oil & gas.
Role Purpose
- The group is recruiting a mid or senior associate with a specific skill base focused on construction and project development.
- We are looking for someone with strong experience of EPC/construction contracts, revenue contracts, concessions, and other commercial contracts within an energy, infrastructure and project finance context.
Role & Responsibilities
- Providing strategic guidance to clients and leading on transactions through strong market awareness.
