Role overview

The Product Design Manager owns product outcomes end-to-end, from early concept and UX exploration through delivery, release, and production performance.

The role combines UX/UI design expertise with product ownership and delivery management in small, high-trust teams alongside engineers.

The role requires ownership across design, product scoping, delivery coordination, and production support rather than specialisation in one discipline.

Employment and remuneration

  • The role is full-time and based in Melbourne or Sydney, Australia.
  • Remuneration including superannuation is listed as AUD $60,000 to $150,000 depending on experience.
  • The company offers equity options and describes remuneration as competitive and performance-based.

Design and product scoping

  • Prepare high-level concept designs for internal review and customer validation.
  • Conduct customer research when required.
  • Prepare detailed UX flows and high-fidelity UI designs.
  • Create information architecture diagrams.
  • Define and review feature scope and acceptance criteria.

Delivery and production ownership

  • Work closely with engineers and peers to plan, prioritise, and deliver work.
  • Review completed engineering work.
  • Monitor released features and report on usage metrics.
  • Identify UX gaps, quality issues, and edge cases.
  • Monitor production support issues and triage fixes.

Collaboration and communication

  • Maintain regular collaboration with product and design leadership.
  • Communicate clearly in writing through Slack, Confluence, and Jira.

Must-have skills

  • Own outcomes with accountability rather than focusing only on design outputs.
  • Lead product delivery end-to-end as a Product Owner or in a similar role.
  • Proactively experiment with AI tools to improve efficiency.
  • Use Figma proficiently, including UI libraries and design systems.
  • Apply strong UX/UI fundamentals and a user-centred approach.
  • Have experience designing web and/or mobile applications.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Work comfortably with ambiguity and pragmatic trade-offs.
  • Demonstrate strong visual design skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-have skills

  • SaaS product experience is advantageous.
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS is advantageous.

Tools

  • Essential tools include Figma, Jira, Confluence, Slack, and Mixpanel or another product analytics tool.
  • Figma Make and Claude Code are listed as bonus tools.

What the company offers

  • Benefits include flexible paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, wellness services, and a dog-friendly office.
  • The company provides a paid annual donation for a dog charity, a free Fi membership, parental leave, learning and development support, and an employee assistance program.
  • The company offers a laptop and home office setup budget, remote and hybrid options, and the ability to work from anywhere for several weeks each year.
