Responsibilities
- Develop vertical transportation design concepts including calculation of number, size, and speed of lifts
- Prepare design stage reports, drawings, and technical specifications
- Participate in client and design team meetings
- Produce efficient VT solutions for clients
- Attend and coordinate meetings with project design team, VT supplier, and subcontractors
- Liaise with local authority departments and stakeholders for approvals
- Coordinate with other discipline engineers (Architectural, Structural, Telecoms, IT, Mechanical, Electrical)
- Participate in design review/clarification meetings and client presentations
- Liaise with VT suppliers to ensure adherence to standards and scope of works
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in lift and escalator industry
- Prior experience in vertical transportation consultancy roles
- Expertise in lift traffic simulation and lift/escalator system design
- Fully conversant with EN 81 suite of codes
- Working knowledge of ASME series of codes
- Thorough understanding of local Middle East building codes
- Advanced knowledge of lift traffic design software (Elevate), CAD, BIM, Revit, Microsoft Office

Job Overview
- WSP in the Middle East is seeking a highly experienced Principal Engineer Vertical Transportation (VT) with a strong background in the lift and escalator industry and prior experience in vertical transportation consultancy roles.
- The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and demonstrable expertise in lift traffic simulation and lift and escalator system design.
- Must be fully conversant with EN 81 suite of codes, have working knowledge of ASME series of codes, and demonstrate thorough understanding of local Middle East building codes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop vertical transportation design concepts, including calculation of number, size, and speed of lifts for a wide variety of building types.
- Prepare design stage reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Participate in client and design team meetings as required.
- Produce efficient VT solutions for the client.
- Attend and coordinate meetings with project design team, VT supplier, and specialist subcontractors to ensure intended design is appropriately implemented.
- Liaise and coordinate with all applicable Local Authority Departments and stakeholders to obtain approval at all stages of the project.
- Coordinate with other Discipline Engineers (Architectural, Structural, Telecoms, IT, Mechanical, and Electrical) as applicable.
- Participate in design review/clarification meetings and workshops, and client presentations.
- Liaise with VT suppliers to ensure adherence to standards and the scope of works required by the client.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in lift and escalator industry.
- Prior experience in vertical transportation consultancy roles.
- Expertise in lift traffic simulation and lift and escalator system design.
- Fully conversant with EN 81 suite of codes.
- Working knowledge of ASME series of codes.
- Thorough understanding of local Middle East building codes.
- Advanced knowledge and experience in utilizing lift traffic design software (Elevate), CAD, BIM, Revit, Microsoft Office suite of programs.
