Role Overview

Alpha is hiring a Preschool Head Teacher to lead a full-time, on-site Pre-K classroom.

The role emphasizes emotional safety, curiosity, play-based learning, and measurable developmental growth.

Positions are available in Manhattan, New York, and Chicago, Illinois, with relocation assistance available.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Design sensory-rich learning experiences that build early literacy, numeracy, self-regulation, and social development.
  • Create a classroom where every child feels emotionally safe, deeply known, and excited to attend school.
  • Observe development, document progress, and use insights to personalize learning.
  • Adapt activities to children’s interests and developmental needs.
  • Partner with families to share growth, celebrate milestones, and support development beyond the classroom.

Basic Requirements

  • Work full-time on-site at a Manhattan or Chicago campus.
  • Have an associate degree or higher, or a U.S. state teaching license or certification.
  • Have at least two years of experience with children ages 3–5 in a structured, play-based classroom or group setting.
  • Have experience documenting developmental milestones with a structured framework or assessment tool.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Bank Street, or other inquiry-based early childhood program.
  • Experience in an independent school or academically ambitious preschool.
  • Familiarity with child-development frameworks, observation tools, or portfolio-based assessment.
  • Experience adapting play-based activities to individual interests, needs, and developmental goals.
