Overview
- The Clinical Artificial Intelligence Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks to improve patient care by developing new machine learning methodologies for healthcare applications using real world datasets including electronic health records and medical images.

Key Responsibilities Research
- Support the supervisor in developing and implementing the research agenda
- Conduct high quality research focused on ML methodology for healthcare
- Generate new ideas based on gaps in state of the art
- Design and implement experiments to compare with SOTA
- Publish findings in high impact journals and conferences
- Create, maintain, and document research code for reproducibility
- Manage and access sensitive medical datasets responsibly
- Assist in grant preparation
- Collaborate within NYU Global Network and Abu Dhabi
Training & Professional Development
- Attend trainings and workshops for career development
- Mentor PhD students and undergraduate research assistants
- Participate in events and committees at NYU Abu Dhabi
- Gain experience in applying for local research grants
- Transition to independence for chosen career path
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently has or is completing a PhD, MD/PhD, DPhil or equivalent (no more than 5 years since doctoral degree)
- Doctoral research in machine learning and AI
- Bachelor's/Master's in computer science, mathematics, computer engineering, or relevant field
- First author peer reviewed publications
- Proficient in Python and libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow)
- Experience with GPU experiments
- Ability to visualize results
- Effective interpersonal and team building skills
- Self motivated and able to work independently and in a team
- Excellent communication skills
- Willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral research in machine learning for healthcare
- Deep knowledge of multi modal learning, transfer learning, foundation models, self supervised learning
- Experience with large medical datasets (EHR or medical images)
- Ability to use high performance computing cluster
