Overview

  • New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to appoint a Research Scientist to investigate gene expression in circadian neural networks.
  • The successful applicant will use a combination of molecular and electrophysiological approaches to investigate how gene expression contributes to the rhythms in excitability and plasticity of circadian clock neurons in rodents.
  • The project will be based at NYU Abu Dhabi and will be co supervised by Dipesh Chaudhury and Justin Blau.

Responsibilities

  • Perform single cell gene expression from mice brain nuclei and single cell data analysis
  • Stereotaxic surgeries for circuit tracing and silencing specific genes
  • Perform slice electrophysiology and data analysis using Clampfit
  • Bulk RNA sequencing and data analysis
  • Mice behavioral experiments using wheel running, PIR etc.
  • Mice brain immunohistochemistry
  • Spatial genomics

Requirements

  • Applicants must have a PhD with at least six years research experience in Circadian Biology post PhD.
  • The candidate should have high quality first author research article demonstrating the research capabilities.
  • Additional requirements are excellent communication skills in English and knowledge in advanced electrophysiological techniques.
