Position Overview
- The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to recruit a post doctoral associate to join a new initiative focused on designing and developing a machine perfusion system to improve organ preservation.
Role Description
- Work in a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment alongside PhD level engineers and scientists, graduate students, and full time researchers.
- Make a meaningful impact on next generation organ preservation technologies, bridging the gap between engineering innovation and clinical application.
- Allow for longer preservation times and improved transplantation outcomes.
Qualifications
- PhD in Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with less than 5 years post receiving their PhD.
- Excellent experimental skills relevant to the project (in particular, medical instruments, fluid control, mechanical design, electronics, and manufacturing).
- Proficiency in English.
- Comprehensive expertise in system hardware integration of medical instruments.
- Advanced proficiency in the design and implementation of a perfusion system for biological tissue.
- Experience with the design and implementation of a cooling system.
- Preference for candidates demonstrating technical familiarity with embedded system design for multiple sensors (flow, pressure, temperature) and control.
