Key Responsibilities
- Develop project execution strategies, feasibility studies, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and construction methodologies.
- Manage contractors, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers for cross-country raw water transmission pipelines and pump station works.
- Coordinate design reviews, value engineering, hydraulic studies, surge analysis, pipeline profiles, and multidisciplinary interfaces.
- Manage procurement of HDPE and ductile iron pipes, valves, pumps, MCCs, and electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Coordinate statutory approvals, permits, utility interfaces, and road, highway, railway, canal, and HDD crossings.
- Coordinate civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
- Develop scope matrices and micro-planning to achieve safety, time, quality, and cost objectives.
- Manage resources, materials, equipment, services, progress, budgets, schedules, and contractor performance.
- Ensure HSE, QA/QC, inspection, testing, welding or jointing, material certification, and commissioning compliance.
- Lead excavation, trenching, HDD, lifting, crossings, electrical works, pump station construction, testing, and final commissioning.
- Ensure closure of punch lists, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, test records, training, and final handover.
- Act as the key interface between the owner, contractors, consultants, suppliers, and government authorities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering.
- 15–20+ years of construction experience, including substantial experience across 3–5 cross-country pipeline projects.
- Experience managing complex pipeline projects with multiple construction spreads and geographically dispersed work fronts.
- Strong knowledge of pipeline construction, welding, NDT, coatings, hydrotesting, and HDD for HDPE and ductile iron pipelines.
- Experience with water pipelines and road, rail, river, and utility crossings is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of project controls, contracts, cost management, construction planning, and EPC contractor management.
- Fluent written and spoken English is required; Tamil is an added advantage.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
