Provide comprehensive and compassionate patient care while supporting healthcare professionals and contributing to an effective care environment.
Patient Care and Clinical Support
- Prepare clinic and procedure rooms with required instruments, devices and supplies.
- Assess patients, including vital signs, medical history, fall risk and infectious-disease screening.
- Support physicians during examinations and clinic-based procedures.
- Perform simple dressing changes, topical applications, eye-drop administration and point-of-care testing.
- Assist patients with transfers, walking and use of mobility aids.
Coordination and Documentation
- Coordinate follow-up appointments, specialist referrals and diagnostic tests.
- Record vital signs, anthropometric measurements and patient-care information accurately.
- Document care activities in the system in line with organizational standards.
- Collaborate with nurses, doctors and other healthcare team members on care plans.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and report incidents or safety concerns.
Supplies and Safety
- Manage outpatient supplies and equipment and maintain adequate stock levels.
- Track service charges and stock usage and confirm payment before procedures.
- Check medication and instrument expiry dates and report shortages or near-expiry items.
- Report defective equipment, facility issues and safety or environmental hazards.
- Take appropriate action in urgent or unexpected situations within routine responsibilities.
Schedule and Coverage
- Work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and remain available on call as required.
- Float to other units and complete duties assigned by the Charge Nurse or Nurse Manager according to competency and availability.
- Keep current with professional development and mandatory education requirements.
Skills and Experience
- One year of Patient Care Assistant experience or a transition-to-practice programme for fresh graduates from a relevant programme.
- Patient Care Assistant training, diploma in nursing or education in the same field.
- Accuracy, ability to work under pressure, initiative, teamwork and adaptability to changing technologies.
- Fluency in spoken and written English is essential.
- Arabic is desirable.
Licenses and Certifications
- License from the country of origin and applicable regional health practice license, such as SCFHS or DHA.
- BLS, ACLS and other applicable LSTC courses or certifications.
Organizational Responsibilities
Support person-centred care values and continuous improvement initiatives.
Follow safety protocols, confidentiality requirements, cybersecurity policies, code of conduct and ethical standards.
