Job Purpose

Assess and manage patients using an evidence-based approach, standards of care, and the organization's bylaws, policies, and procedures.

Clinical Duties

  • Perform clinical duties within assigned clinical privileges.
  • Assess patients thoroughly and document clinical, socioeconomic, psychological, and functional findings in medical records.
  • Develop and document evidence-based plans of care and ensure timely implementation.
  • Act as the most responsible physician for inpatients admitted under the consultant's name.
  • Respond to medical consultations in a timely manner.

Inpatient and Discharge Care

  • Develop discharge plans on the day of admission and involve discharge-planning services when warranted.
  • Assess assigned inpatients at least once daily and document daily assessment and care plans using SOAP-format progress notes.
  • Complete and authenticate discharge summaries on time.
  • Ensure indicated discharge instructions and take-home medication education are provided before discharge.

Documentation and Collaboration

  • Document medical interventions in a timely manner and prepare medical reports according to the organization's format.
  • Attend facility duties according to the departmental or section call schedule.
  • Attend departmental and general staff meetings and contribute ideas to improve efficiency, productivity, and patient satisfaction.
  • Contribute to teaching rounds and teaching activities as requested.

Patient Care and Compliance

  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, and preventive measures.
  • Support person-centered care, continuous improvement, safety protocols, confidentiality, cybersecurity policies, and the code of conduct.
  • Complete mandatory education at least one month before expiration when required.

Experience and Education

  • Complete experience requirements set by the regional health regulatory authority within the specialty at recognized medical centers.
  • Complete structured specialty or subspecialty training at a recognized medical center.
  • Obtain the highest clinical degree in the specialty that the recognized medical center can grant.

Skills and Abilities

  • Clearly communicate with patients and families, physicians, and non-medical staff.
  • Have Microsoft computer skills and good organizational skills.
  • Be able to work in high-stress situations.
  • Have excellent oral and written English and Arabic.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Hold a practice license required by the regional health regulatory authority, such as SCFHS or DHA.
  • Hold BLS and any applicable advanced license.
