About the Role
Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital is seeking an Outpatient Pharmacist to dispense medications, review orders, and counsel patients. The role requires a licensed pharmacist with knowledge of medication safety and hospital procedures.

Responsibilities
- Review, interpret, and clarify doctor's medication orders, verifying doses, duration, and checking for drug interactions
- Oversee preparation of verified medications, perform double checking and proper labeling, then dispense
- Calculate drug product amount to dispense based on body weight and patient age
- Perform computer entry of outside prescriptions or orders into CPOE of Fakeeh Care HIS
- Counsel patients and caregivers on proper and safe use of medication, storage, and interactions
- Maintain inventory control and security of all drugs, including narcotics and controlled medications
- Identify and handle nearly expired medications according to policies
- Complete charging of patients for dispensed medications
- Contribute to training and induction for newly hired pharmacists and students

Job Purpose
- Dispenses medications ordered by privileged physicians while observing highest standards of safety and quality and ensuring prompt seamless process conducive to highest patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Reviews, interprets, clarifies doctor's medications orders and verifies all orders doses, duration and checks for potential drug to drug interaction and clinical indication.
- Communicates with ordering doctor in case of any ambiguity or concern.
- Oversees the preparation of the verified medications, performs double checking and review of proper labeling for the prepared medications and then dispenses.
- Calculates the amount of the drug product to dispense for a prescription based upon body weight and patient age.
- Performs computer entry of outside prescriptions or orders into CPOE of Fakeeh Care HIS before dispensing.
- Ensures prompt and timely calling of patients to dispensing windows and aims at reducing patients waiting time.
- Counsels the patients and caregivers on the proper & safe use of medication, storage, and interactions.
- Follows all medication safety procedures when dispensing medications.
- Maintains inventory control & security of all drugs, record keeping and secured storage of narcotics and controlled medications.
- Identifies and appropriately handles the nearly expired medications according to Fakeeh Care policies.
- Properly completes charging of patients for dispensed medications.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper storage & handling of hazardous materials and first aid measures.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of formulary, generic substitution, indication, deductible limits, and prescription quantity limitations.
- Practices and fully complies with current infection prevention and control standards.
- Contributes to training and induction orientation for newly hired pharmacists and students.
- Demonstrates knowledge of commonly used over the counter (OTC) drugs.
- Reports to pharmacy supervisor/manager and enters on OVR any encountered medication error or ADR.
- Attends continuing education programs to maintain expertise in pharmacy and required licensure.
- Ensures enrollment in continuous education program regarding medication management practices.
- Educates patients and their families about health conditions, treatments and preventative measures.
