Responsibilities
- Review, interpret, and clarify medication orders; verify doses, duration, and check for drug interactions
- Oversee preparation of verified medications, perform double checking, and dispense
- Calculate drug product amounts based on body weight and age
- Perform computer entry of prescriptions into CPOE system
- Counsel patients and caregivers on proper medication use, storage, and interactions
- Maintain inventory control and security of drugs, including narcotics
- Complete charging of patients for dispensed medications
- Report medication errors or adverse drug reactions via OVR

- Competent computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of medication safety procedures
- Ability to interpret and clarify medication orders
- Knowledge of infection prevention and control standards

Job Purpose
- Dispenses medications ordered by privileged physicians while observing highest standards of safety and quality.
- Ensures prompt seamless process conducive to highest patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Reviews, interprets, clarifies medication orders; verifies doses, duration, checks for drug interactions.
- Oversees preparation of verified medications, performs double checking and labeling review, then dispenses.
- Calculates drug product amount based on body weight and age.
- Performs computer entry of prescriptions into CPOE of Fakeeh Care HIS.
- Ensures prompt calling of patients to dispensing windows; reduces waiting time.
- Counsels patients and caregivers on proper medication use, storage, interactions.
- Follows medication safety procedures; maintains inventory control and security of drugs.
- Identifies and handles nearly expired medications; never dispenses expired medications.
- Completes charging of patients for dispensed medications.
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper storage and handling of hazardous materials.
- Practices infection prevention and control standards when handling medications.
- Contributes to training for newly hired pharmacists and students.
Skills and Abilities
- Competent computer skills with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Actively strives to upgrade professional skills through training and experience.
