Job Summary

The Patient Access Officer manages patient admission and registration activities, patient check-in, facility and billing information, patient inquiries, and patient information intake.

The role ensures accurate information is available to doctors and nurses and supports insurance approval and revenue cycle processes.

Patient Registration and Check-In

  • Greet patients and caregivers, digitally log patient information, and maintain accurate records.
  • Verify eligibility and collect patient details, medical history, billing, and insurance information.
  • Prepare check-in documentation and guide patients to examinations and other points of service.
  • Screen check-ins for insurance coverage and required pre-authorizations.

Insurance, Billing, and Scheduling

  • Support the revenue cycle pre-authorization team in securing insurance approvals.
  • Process insurance information and follow up with the pre-authorization team and clinics.
  • Provide billing and payment information and handle payments.
  • Schedule follow-ups, referrals, and other required services while maintaining accurate scheduling.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports and analysis as directed.

Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance processes, electronic health records, and hospital registration is relevant to the role.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, customer service, communication, confidentiality, judgment, and attention-to-detail skills are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other digital data entry systems is required.
  • The role requires resilience, calmness under pressure, adaptability, compassion, and patience.

Experience and Education

  • A bachelor's degree in business administration or hospitality is listed under education.
  • Experience with electronic health records is required.
  • Two or more years of Patient Access, customer care, patient relations, or customer service experience is preferred.
  • Medical insurance, hospital registration, and GCC experience are preferred.
