is responsible for performing a range of manual tasks to support the operation, maintenance, and safety of the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) and Ladle Refining Furnace (LRF).
This includes material handling, equipment maintenance, electrode management, lifting operations, rigging, slinging, and signalman duties.
The role requires a focus on safety, adherence to operational policies, and the efficient execution of furnace-related tasks to ensure smooth plant operations and high-quality steel production
Job Required
- Execute Melter Duties and Maintain Furnace Equipment:
- Perform manual tasks assigned by the supervisor to ensure the smooth operation of the EAF/LRF according to production schedules and requirements.
- This includes changing electrodes, preparing and adding materials carbon, Aluminium or ferro alloys manually into the furnace, and maintaining ladle equipment for molten steel transfer.
- Lifting Operations, Rigging, and Slinging:
- Rig and sling materials such as electrodes, furnace parts, and ladles in accordance with safe rigging practices to ensure secure and stable loads during lifting.
- Collaborate with crane operators to accurately and safely move material, pallet and heavy items, ensuring compliance with lifting capacity and safety standards.
- Signalman Duties for Safe Lifting Operations:
- Act as a signalman during lifting and rigging operations to guide crane operators, ensuring proper alignment and safe handling of equipment and materials.
- Use appropriate hand signals, communication devices, and standard procedures to direct lifting operations, ensuring clear and effective communication with the crane
• Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves)
- Around 3 Years with a steel plant having an EAF/LF/CCM production route with DRI
- Around 3-5 Years in a Steel Plant as a Melter
