- Operate automated testing and diagnostic equipment according to established procedures
- Prepare specimens for observation and analysis by other lab staff
- Identify and label specimens for retention and filing
- Assist in training new laboratory technicians and trainees
- Inventory and request biweekly supplies and arrange monthly staff schedule
Requirements
- Experience in laboratory testing and specimen processing
- Ability to operate automated testing equipment
- Knowledge of ICIS system
- Familiarity with CAP and JCAHO standards

Summary
- Leads and coordinates activities of the Laboratory Technicians and Laboratory Assistants. Performs a variety of laboratory testing and related tasks. Operates automated testing equipment. Performs routine procedural steps of laboratory tests.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Monitors and resolves problems related to specimen processes and activities of the Laboratory Technicians and Laboratory Assistants.
- Receives sorts and accessions lab specimens in ICIS and processes them by manual and automated methods and contacts phlebotomists, nurses, and doctors as required to solve specimen related problems.
- Views activities orders in ICIS and prints both collection and aliquot labels.
- Performs separate procedural steps of less complex laboratory testing procedures to obtain results for diagnosis of patient diseases.
- Operates automated testing and diagnostic equipment in accordance with accepted and established procedures.
- Prepares specimens for observation and analysis by other laboratory staff members.
- Identifies and labels all specimens to be retained and files them for later reference.
- Assists in training new laboratory technicians and trainees.
- Inventories and requests of biweekly supplies (warehouse and pre analytical machines supplies) and arranges monthly staff schedule with the senior and supervisor.
- Works in accordance with standards established by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals and the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
