Role Overview
- Performs and acts in a lead capacity for a specialized subsection/unit function of a laboratory section.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Organizes workflow and day to day operations of the subsection.
- Disseminates appropriate information to subordinates.
- Maintains the computerized Laboratory Information Systems for the subsection.
- Ensures optimum levels of supplies are available; maintains ordering and supply inventory system.
- Assists in development of new methodologies and evaluation of new equipment.
- Updates policy and procedure manuals in accordance with specified guidelines.
- Performs analyses, tests, and procedures as per established laboratory standards.
- Maintains quality control of the subsection and participates in Quality Assurance programs.
- Investigates incident reports and implements corrective action.
- Maintains equipment repair logs and operation/maintenance records.
- Assists section supervisor in employee performance appraisal and counseling.
- Orients, trains, and guides lower graded personnel, other healthcare staff, students, and residents.
