Position Overview

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Mechanical Assembler V Group Lead for its OEM facility and A320 assembly line in Foley, Alabama.

This is a senior-level, hands-on assembly role that also provides working leadership and technical support to the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex mechanical assembly, rework, and repair using engineering specifications, drawings, work instructions, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, technical support, training, and mentoring to mechanical assemblers.
  • Coordinate workflow and daily priorities, communicate production status, and escalate safety, quality, material, or operational concerns.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, identify non-conformances, perform quality checks, and recommend improvements.
  • Work with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and other stakeholders on technical issues and Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Safely operate assembly tools and measuring equipment while maintaining an organized, safe work area.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or related vocational or technical education, with at least six years of relevant experience.
  • At least two years of aerospace manufacturing experience.
  • At least two years of experience interpreting blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, or technical work instructions.
  • At least two years of experience using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring equipment, or related manufacturing equipment.
  • At least one year of experience with Continuous Improvement tools or methodologies.
  • Experience leading, training, mentoring, coordinating, or providing technical guidance to others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Group Lead, Team Lead, Senior Assembler, Trainer, or similar working-lead experience is preferred.
  • Composite Repair Certification, Lean, ACE, CORE, AMQAS, or ISO 9001 experience is preferred.

Schedule

  • The first-shift schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Workplace

  • The position is onsite at the Foley, Alabama facility.
