Main Purpose of the Position
To ensure the effective execution of maintenance activities, leading a skilled team to optimize equipment reliability, ensure safety compliance, and support uninterrupted operations in a gasification and power-producing facility.
Job Objectives
Team Leadership: To supervise, mentor, and evaluate the performance of maintenance staff, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and teamwork.
Maintenance Scheduling: To oversee the planning and execution of preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure minimal downtime and operational reliability.
Resource Management: To allocate personnel, tools, and materials effectively to meet maintenance demands and prioritize tasks.
Compliance and Safety Monitoring: To ensure maintenance activities adhere to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, conducting regular safety inspections and audits.
Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: To lead the team in diagnosing and resolving equipment failures and technical issues promptly to maintain operational efficiency.
Performance Monitoring: To track maintenance KPIs, analyze performance data, and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
Vendor and Contractor Coordination: To manage relationships with external contractors and vendors, ensuring the timely and quality completion of outsourced maintenance tasks.
Training and Development: To identify training needs and organize skill development programs to enhance the technical competence of the maintenance team.
Formal Qualifications/Education
- Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Maintenance & Reliability Management, or a related field
- Preferred
- A technical diploma with substantial relevant experience may be considered
- Relevant qualifications:
- Certification in Maintenance and Reliability (e.g., CMRP or CRL)
- Health, Safety, and Environmental certifications (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) are an advantage
Job Related Work Experience
Essential
Work experience in industrial maintenance 5-8+ Years
Experience in a supervisory role 2+
Preferred
Experience in the gasification, power generation, or similar heavy industrial environment is preferred
Job Related Knowledge and skills
- Proficiency in troubleshooting & knowledge of maintenance repairs best practices along with comprehensive understanding of maintenance workflows, reliability strategies, and best practices
- Proficient
- In-depth knowledge of gasification and power generation systems and their maintenance requirements
- Advanced
- Familiarity with safety regulations, industry standards, and environmental compliance
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Proficiency in CMMS (e.g., SAP PM or Maximo) for managing work orders and maintenance schedules
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder and team interactions
- Analytical skills for tracking performance metrics and implementing improvements
