Role overview
Jane Street is seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to join its growing ML team.
The engineer will help drive the direction of the ML platform and improve research workflows.
Jane Street's trading environment provides rapid feedback for machine learning experimentation.
What the role involves
- Apply the right machine learning approach to the problem, including neural networks, random forests, gradient-boosted trees, and ensemble methods.
- Enhance research workflows to tighten feedback cycles.
- Build and maintain training and inference infrastructure from concept to production.
- Create organised research codebases that produce robust, reproducible results.
- Contribute to software engineering APIs and systems that are easy to use.
Candidate requirements
- Experience building and maintaining training and inference infrastructure.
- Strong mathematical background, including optimisation theory, regularisation techniques, or linear algebra.
- Passion for current machine learning research, experimentation, hardware, or software packages.
- Proven ability to maintain an organised and reproducible research codebase.
- Expertise with an ML framework such as PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow, or another framework.
