BMO is seeking a Machine Learning Developer in Toronto for an early-career role focused on intelligent, scalable business solutions.
The developer will design, develop, test, deploy, and support machine learning applications and cloud-based solutions.

Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and implement machine learning solutions.
- Translate business requirements into technical specifications and scalable solutions.
- Develop Python applications and deploy machine learning models in AWS.
- Build serverless applications using Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and related AWS services.
- Support user interfaces integrated with machine learning applications.
- Perform model evaluation, feature engineering, data processing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Follow security, logging, performance, release management, version control, and CI/CD standards.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams.
Technical skills
- Strong Python programming ability for application development, data processing, and machine learning implementations.
- Experience or knowledge with machine learning libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Experience developing or deploying AWS solutions and understanding serverless services including Lambda, API Gateway, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and SageMaker.
- Knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning, model training, evaluation, feature engineering, optimization, and deployment.
Qualifications
- Approximately one to three years of relevant experience or equivalent project, internship, research, co-op, or graduate-level experience.
- Post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, AI, or Machine Learning.
- Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistical modeling concepts.
- Experience with Python, AWS cloud technologies, serverless architectures, software engineering, testing, the software development lifecycle, and Git.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with SageMaker or other machine learning deployment platforms is preferred.
- Experience with user-facing applications, dashboards, UI components, APIs, microservices, cloud-native architectures, CI/CD, MLOps, or Agile delivery is preferred.
- A Master's degree or MBA with AI, Analytics, Data Science, or Technology-focused projects is preferred.
Compensation
- The stated salary range is $55,500 to $120,000 on a salaried pay basis.
