Role Overview

Dillon is seeking a Junior to Intermediate M&A Analyst for its Corporate Development team.

The role reports to the Director of Mergers & Acquisitions and supports the company’s buy-side growth strategy across the full M&A lifecycle.

The position can be based at any of Dillon’s 25+ offices across Canada and offers flexible work hours and hybrid work options.

M&A Responsibilities

  • Conduct market research to identify acquisition targets in engineering, environmental, and planning sectors across Canada.
  • Build financial models using DCF, precedent transactions, and comparable company analysis to evaluate acquisitions and support deal pricing.
  • Assist with end-to-end due diligence, coordinating with HR, IT, Finance, Legal, and external advisors.
  • Support drafting letters of intent, term sheets, and internal investment memos for executive and board review.
  • Track integration KPIs, resolve operational bottlenecks, and help integrate acquired teams into Dillon’s culture.

Learning and Development

  • Commit to self-development, ongoing learning, and professional development.
  • Mentor junior staff in data science and digital project delivery methodologies.
  • Participate in professional associations and committees to contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • CPA, CFA, or CBV designation is a strong asset.
  • Advanced Excel proficiency with strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple moving parts during due diligence and build trust during post-merger integration.
  • Proactive approach to using AI and automation to solve financial problems and modernize workflows.

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in corporate development, investment banking, transaction advisory, private equity, or management consulting.
  • Experience contributing to a continuous-improvement-focused environment.
  • Ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely using communication skills and business acumen.
  • Experience challenging existing processes to drive efficiency and utility.

Compensation

  • The stated compensation range is CAD 70,000 to CAD 105,000.
  • Compensation may depend on education, experience, skills, internal equity, and geographic region.
